Charlene is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate. She obtained her Bachelors degree in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a graduate degree in Counseling from North Carolina Central University. Charlene has a background in School Counseling as well as Career Counseling. She works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, parenting, school and life transitions, career planning, self-esteem, and relationship conflict.

Charlene draws on different theoretical approaches including Existential, Humanistic, Solution Focused, and Reality Therapy. Charlene believes Therapy can help clients focus on their thoughts and emotions that influence their behaviors; by changing one’s thoughts behaviors can change also. Charlene also helps clients set goals that can be met over a short period of time. Different therapeutic procedures are implemented that can help one take effective control of their lives and find better ways to meet their needs for survival and more in the everyday world. Charlene begins counseling relationships with these theoretical approaches, but understands that each person is different and therefore matches a theoretical style of counseling that will be best for the counselor-client relationship.
